Kilimanjaro 8 Days Lemosho Route Luxury Trekking – 2025

After a hearty breakfast, you'll be driven from Moshi or Arusha to Lemosho Gate, located on the western flank of Mount Kilimanjaro. After registration and a detailed safety briefing, your trek begins through dense montane forest, where you may spot monkeys, tropical birds, and endemic plants.

You’ll reach Big Tree Camp (also known as Mti Mkubwa), a quiet campsite nestled beneath the forest canopy.

Arrive at Shira 1 Camp on the plateau, where your luxury tents await. Enjoy a warm meal and stunning sunset views.

Today is a relatively gentle trek across the Shira Plateau, one of the highest plateaus in the world. You’ll pass through volcanic rock formations and open moorland while acclimatizing to higher altitudes.

Shira 2 Camp offers clear views of Kibo Peak, and weather permitting, a dramatic sunset.

A key acclimatization day. Hike toward the iconic Lava Tower, reaching 4,600m before descending to Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy is essential to help your body adjust to altitude.

Expect dramatic views of the Western Breach and the first glimpse of Barranco Wall.

This is one of the most exciting days as you scale the Barranco Wall, a thrilling non-technical rock scramble offering panoramic views. After reaching the top, trek across alpine valleys to reach Karanga Camp.

This day helps with further acclimatization and sets you up for a smoother summit push.

A short and steady ascent to Barafu Camp, the base for your summit attempt. After an early dinner, your guides will give a final briefing before you rest ahead of the midnight summit push.

Around midnight, begin your summit ascent under the stars. After reaching Stella Point (5,739m) at sunrise, continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.

Celebrate your achievement, then descend slowly to Mweka Camp, passing Barafu.
