Your journey to the Roof of Africa begins upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). You will be personally greeted by one of our friendly representatives, who will be holding a sign with your name. After assistance with your luggage, you will be chauffeured in a comfortable, private vehicle to your luxurious hotel. Here, you can unwind from your travels, take a dip in the pool, enjoy a delicious dinner, and rest in anticipation of the adventure ahead. Your guide will meet you for a preliminary introduction and ensure you are settled in comfortably.

After a leisurely breakfast, this day is dedicated to ensuring you are perfectly prepared. Your head guide will conduct a comprehensive trek briefing, covering every aspect of the climb, from daily routines and safety procedures to what to expect at each stage. This is the perfect time to ask any remaining questions.

Following the briefing, your guide will conduct a thorough gear check. We will assess the equipment you’ve brought and assist you in renting any necessary high-quality gear (like trekking poles, sleeping bags, or waterproof outerwear) from our trusted local partners. In the afternoon, you have the option to relax at the hotel or take a guided tour to a local market to purchase any last-minute personal items. This stress-free preparation day is a key element of our luxury service, ensuring you start your trek with complete peace of mind.

The adventure officially begins! After a hearty breakfast, your guide will pick you up from the hotel. You'll enjoy a scenic drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park's Marangu Gate. Upon arrival, your crew will handle all the park formalities and weigh the luggage while you register. You'll then step into the verdant rainforest, a world of ancient trees, lush ferns, and unique bird calls. Keep an eye out for the beautiful black and white colobus monkeys swinging through the canopy. The trail is well-maintained and the gradient is gentle, making for a pleasant introduction to trekking. You'll arrive at Mandara Hut in the afternoon, where your crew will welcome you with hot drinks and snacks.

Today’s trek marks a significant change in scenery. Shortly after leaving Mandara, you will leave the rainforest behind and enter the heath and moorland zone. The landscape opens up to reveal rolling hills dotted with giant heather and unique flora like the giant lobelias and groundsels. The trail is steeper than yesterday's but remains manageable. On a clear day, you will get your first magnificent views of the Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. You’ll stop for a picnic lunch en route. Upon arriving at the bustling Horombo Hut complex, your porters will have already secured your space. You'll have time to rest and enjoy a hearty, multi-course dinner prepared by your chef.

This is the most important day of your 6-Day Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Luxury Trekking Tour Package. A full day dedicated to acclimatization is the key to a successful summit attempt. Following the mountaineer's principle of "climb high, sleep low," you will embark on a day hike towards the Mawenzi Hut, passing the Zebra Rocks along the way. You will ascend to an altitude of around 4,200 meters before returning to Horombo Hut for lunch. This excursion helps your body adapt to the lower oxygen levels at a controlled pace, significantly reducing the risk of altitude sickness. The afternoon is for resting, reading, and hydrating, allowing your body to prepare for the challenging days ahead.

Today, you ascend into the stark and surreal alpine desert. The trail passes between the iconic peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. The landscape is otherworldly, with sparse vegetation and a vast, open terrain that feels like walking on the moon. The path is gradual but the altitude will make it feel more challenging. You will walk "pole pole" (slowly, slowly), the mantra of Kilimanjaro, to conserve energy and aid acclimatization. You'll arrive at Kibo Hut in the afternoon. This hut is a basic stone structure that serves as the base camp for summit attempts. An early dinner will be served, and you will head to bed around 7:00 PM to get as much rest as possible before your midnight start.

• Trekking Time: 6-8 hours to the summit, 5-7 hours descent to Horombo
• Distance: ~6 km ascent, ~16 km descent
• Habitat: Arctic/Glacial

This is the moment of truth. Your guides will wake you around 11:30 PM with hot tea and biscuits. You will begin your final ascent in the darkness, under a sky full of stars. The trail is a steep scree slope, and this is the most mentally and physically challenging part of the trek. Your expert guides will be right by your side, offering encouragement, monitoring your condition, and setting a slow, steady pace.

After several hours, you will reach Gilman's Point (5,685m) on the crater rim as the first rays of dawn begin to illuminate the horizon. This is an incredible achievement. From here, it’s another 1-2 hours of trekking along the crater rim to reach the true summit, Uhuru Peak (5,895m). You have arrived at the Roof of Africa! The feeling is euphoric. You will spend a short time celebrating, taking photos of the incredible glaciers, before beginning the long descent. You will return to Kibo Hut for a short rest and lunch before continuing down to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved dinner and your final night on the mountain.

After breakfast, you'll embark on your final descent. The walk is long but mostly downhill, taking you back through the moorland and into the beautiful rainforest. At Marangu Gate, you will sign out, and successful climbers will be awarded their official summit certificates. Your entire mountain crew will be there to celebrate with you, often with joyful songs. You will then be chauffeured back to your luxury hotel for the most anticipated hot shower of your life and a celebratory dinner.

This day is entirely yours to relax and recover. Enjoy a late breakfast, lounge by the pool, book a massage treatment at the spa, or simply reflect on your incredible accomplishment. For those with energy to spare, we can arrange optional excursions, such as a tour of a local coffee plantation, a visit to the vibrant markets of Moshi, or a trip to the beautiful Materuni Waterfalls.
